Overall, every gameplay mechanic in 007 Blood Stone is appropriate to the 007 universe even though each element is heavily borrowed from other video games. Still, the gadget’s features are useful and are easy to execute, breaking up gunfights nicely.
The smartphone is an all-in-one gadget that fits appropriately in the 007 universe despite that the feature is almost directly ripped off Batman: Arkham Asylum. The ability adds depth and variety to the gameplay even though it’s awfully similar to the one-shot kill abilities available in Splinter Cell: Conviction and Red Dead Redemption.īond can use his in-game smartphone’s myriad features to retrieve intelligence from computers and other objects, hack cameras to bypass them, and scan the environment to provide information on enemy positions, waypoints, and interactive objects.
The more points saved, the more kills can be executed consecutively, displaying a visually stunning effect in slow motion. Defeating enemies with melee attacks awards players with “focus points” that, when triggered, automatically targets close-by enemies for an instant kill. Shooting enemies couldn’t be simpler with a gracious auto-aim system similar to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare games and the “Focus Aim” ability. This is the most cinematic Bond game to date. Although not as varied, deep, or polished as the Uncharted series, 007 Blood Stone offers tight controls and arcade-like racing, making it easy to pick up and play especially for casual gamers who want instant gratification. The storyline is similarly unimportant and is simply a means to get to the action. Players control Bond in the likeness of actor Daniel Craig of the 007 films Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, shooting armies of enemies, retrieving intelligence, driving fast-speed sports cars, and surviving explosive set pieces in a linear fashion.
This Bond may play differently from its predecessors and borrows heavily from popular games currently on the market, but like the recent movies it’s based off of, it really knows how to create an entertaining and action-packed experience that both compliments the source material and is strengthened by it.īlood Stone is a third-person, cover-centric shooter similar in design and scope to the Uncharted series.
